Response of tomato varieties (Solanum lycopersicum L.) to water stress

چکیده
Background and Objectives: Water scarcity is limiting for tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L) production, due to its sensitive drought in the different phases of development, so irrigation should be done an optimal way; because this, objective was evaluate four levels greenhouse varieties. Methods: A completely randomized experimental design with factorial arrangement used various agronomic variables, fruit quality biomass were measured as response variables. Results: Tomatoes significantly affected (P?0.05) by variety factors (V), (R), their interaction. 100% P presented fruits greater weight (122 g); while decreased 84, 90, 34 18 g when reducing water up 25%, varieties Cid, P, E C, respectively. However, terms yield leaf area, Cid highest values, around 3.3 kg/plant 8.6 m-2. Conclusions: Variety c tolerant stress also does not present apical rotting (calcium deficiency) fruit.

Auxin Response Factors (ARFs) are potential mediators of auxin action in tomato response to biotic and abiotic stress (Solanum lycopersicum)
Survival biomass production and crop yield are heavily constrained by a wide range of environmental stresses. Several phytohormones among which abscisic acid (ABA), ethylene and salicylic acid (SA) are known to mediate plant responses to these stresses. By contrast, the role of the plant hormone auxin in stress responses remains so far poorly studied. Auxin controls many aspects of plant growth...
متن کاملSilicon Enhances Water Stress Tolerance by Improving Root Hydraulic Conductance in Solanum lycopersicum L.
Silicon (Si) can improve drought tolerance in plants, but the mechanism is still not fully understood. Previous research has been concentrating on Si's role in leaf water maintenance in Si accumulators, while little information is available on its role in water uptake and in less Si-accumulating plants. Here, we investigated the effects of Si on root water uptake and its role in decreasing oxid...
متن کاملOxidative stress and antioxidants in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) plants subjected to boron toxicity.
BACKGROUND AND AIMS Boron (B) toxicity triggers the formation of reactive oxygen species in plant tissues. However, there is still a lack of knowledge as to how B toxicity affects the plant antioxidant defence system. It has been suggested that ascorbate could be important against B stress, although existing information is limited in this respect. The objective of this study was to analyse how ...
متن کاملAcclimation to Drought Stress Enhances Oxidative Stress Tolerance in Solanum lycopersicum L. Fruits
A moderate water deficit stress (S1) applied 10 days after anthesis was found to induce acclimation to a subsequent more severe drought stress (S2) in Solanum lycopersicum L.. When plants were pretreated with S1, and then subjected to S2, fruit water status remained similar to controls. In contrast, S2 induced a decrease in both parameters of water status and diameter of fruits from non-acclima...
